William Henry Fox Talbot

  • Invented the process which made photos permanent

  • Was not the first to make light sensitive paper, but did create the system of chemically stabilizing the pictures

  • His first process could take hours to get a proper exposure

  • In February 1841 Talbot received a patent for his calotype process

  • Talbot received harsh criticism for his patent because of the belief that patents hindered scientific advances
